General Data Protection Regulation
General
The era we are living in, with the widespread and multifarious use of the Internet, the development of the digital economy, the use of social media with the simultaneous availability of data at an international level, made the need to protect personal data an imperative.
The result of this need was the establishment of a European legal framework for data protection, which led to the repeal of Directive 95/46/EC and the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (General Data Protection Regulation “GDPR”). The Regulation entered into force on 25 May 2018.
In the context of compliance with the provisions of the Regulation and in accordance with article 37 thereof, the Rector’s Council of the University of Ioannina appointed a “Data Protection Officer”, whose contact details are: Stavroula Stathara, tel. 26510-07321, e-mail: dpo@uoi.gr.
You therefore have the ability to communicate either orally or in writing via e-mail, on any matter that concerns you and concerns the field of personal data, both at an advisory level and at the level of complaints. The “Protection Officer” office will guide you on how to take the appropriate actions.
